What is the impact of the Sudan crisis?
Armed clashes in Sudan began in April 2023.
- As violence has spread across the country, over 9 million people have been forced from their homes.
- 25 million people now in dire need of humanitarian assistance.
There is an urgent need for water, sanitation, hygiene, food and other essential needs.
The impact of violence is being felt by the most vulnerable.
- 75% of people affected by the conflict are women and children.
- There has been an alarming increase in the incidence of sexual assault cases across the country.
- Millions of children have been forced to flee their homes and are internally displaced, while more than half a million have fled across the border to safety.

Where does my donation go?
The funds you donate to this appeal go to Caritas Australia’s Emergency Response Fund and will be used to provide humanitarian assistance to communities affected by this crisis. Should circumstances prevent us from delivering aid to this emergency, or if excess funds remain after the crisis, donations will be directed to other emergencies where Caritas has humanitarian operations.
